Treasured Tuesday - I'm Blue

Yeah, I have been having kind of a rough day. Like, I seriously need a hug!

So I gave myself one. I figured that if blue hearts didn't cover how I have felt, nothing did. And the best part? I made myself feel better while I was at it.

It's so fun to find something very traditional for two weeks before Valentine's day, but with a stand-out twist. And these hearts really stand out! I love them all but the belt buckle by Buckles and Blessings is something else.

Here's my latest Etsy treasury!

Thoughtful Thursday - Teenage Drivers

Or to be more specific - MY teenage driver!

Younger son finally decided to get serious about getting his driver's license, so we went up to the Division of Motor Vehicles this afternoon. We filled out the form for his learner's permit, got his photo taken, had his IDs scrutinized, paid the fee...

The lady never asked, are you ready for your baby to start driving yet? Or, do you find the whole idea of this little kid driving awfully scary? (Keep in mind that this little kid is just under 6'3") Nope, she just said "Sign here showing you take responsibility for him as a minor."

Well I have done for 16 years so far, might as well keep on taking responsibility for a couple more years!

I'm so pleased that, along with being anxious to be able to get out and drive on his own, my son understands the responsibilities that come with driving. He knows it is a privilege, and something he can't ever take for granted for safety's sake. He also registered to be an organ donor.

It's a good start!

Treasured Tuesday

I'm relearning that making treasuries on Etsy is fun!  Today I finished up a new one called Rainbow Color Explosion, featuring of course lots of bright colors.  There are some really wonderful items and great sellers that I picked out.  Windy's Designs is a great person who has been quite inspiring to me recently.  Kenyon Organics is based in the Salt Lake valley and has seeds for some of the most gorgeous vegetables you have ever seen!  And Bubbles and Bugs  has been unfailingly supportive of me since we first met - and that's beside the point that she makes adorable shirts.

Everyone in this treasury has a story for me, but if I told them all I would be here all night writing - and be too long to read too!  But mostly it's tons of bright colors that make me smile.

Thoughtful Thursday - I think I'll post!

My blog has been long neglected.  I think about it, quietly sitting over here in the corner, but in my hectic life it seems I never have time to get to everything.  But as I have thought about it, I have realized that I miss the little time to just set my thoughts in order and put something down in writing.

So I hereby resolve on this Thoughtful Thursday to take that time for myself, even if it's just a few minutes at a time.  I'll share items and stories, talk about what's happening in my shop and in my life and think aloud (or at least on screen) a few times a week, and hopefully not bore anyone to death!

Have a great night, and I'll chat at you again soon!

STRIKE AGAINST SOPA!

This Wed Jan 18, many of your favorite sites will be unavailable to you in order to protest web censorship.   Lanmom Originals supports this movement!
From Michael Moore:
"I  think we all knew that the powers-that-be would eventually try to kill the world wide web as we've come to know and love it. I'm sure it's just an accident that these bills are being proposed after a year where uprisings around the world were literally started on the internet. This is a scary device to those in power and I'm sure they rue the day they allowed us to talk freely to each other. They weren't thinking about the revolution that would cause -- they just saw it as a way to sell more stuff. Oops. And now they want to rein it in.
Please take the time to learn about SOPA (and its twin Senate bill, PIPA) and then call AND fax AND email your Representative and Senators tomorrow. Let's melt their phone lines and computers. We've got to use the internet while we still can to organize, fight back and stop this."
I frequently disagree with Michael Moore, but in spite of his melodramatics I agree with him on this.  If you like the internet act TOMORROW!  Before it's too late.
